Verify your mail server (SMTP & inbound tests)

Prove outbound and inbound mail actually work with a real connection test before you rely on them.

Verify your mail server (SMTP & inbound tests)

flyhelpdesk won't just trust your mail settings — it tests them for real under Admin → Channels, so a wrong password or blocked port is caught immediately instead of silently dropping customer email.

Outbound (SMTP)

  1. Pick your provider (Gmail, Microsoft 365, SendGrid, Mailchimp…), which fills the host/port, and enter your credentials. For Gmail/Microsoft 365 use an app password, not your account password.
  2. Click Test connection — this opens a genuine connection to your server and signs in (no email is sent). On success the server is verified and activated; outbound mail will never route through an unproven server.
  3. Use Send a test email for a true end-to-end delivery check through your own server.

Inbound (IMAP / POP3)

  1. Under the mailbox section, pick IMAP or POP3, enter the host, encryption and credentials.
  2. Click Test connection — it performs a real login (no message is fetched) and reports success or the exact error.

If a test fails

The result explains what went wrong with a likely fix — authentication rejected (check the app password), can't reach the host (check port/firewall), or a TLS mismatch (switch between STARTTLS and SSL).
